Ballet Yuma Brings In Acclaimed Choreographer Eva L. Stone to Conduct Master Classes in Modern Dance

Yuma, Arizona – Eva L. Stone, acclaimed dancer, teacher, choreographer, and current faculty member at the Pacific Northwest Ballet School Professional Division, will be teaching master classes for Ballet Yuma at Yuma Ballet Academy studios, located at 3942 S Avenue 4 1/2 E, Yuma, on Thursday, October 2nd, Friday, October 3rd and Saturday, October 4th, 2014.
Ballet Yuma will offer the Thursday, October 2nd class to the public for a nominal fee of $25.00 per dancer. Dancers should come prepared for a modern dance class. Times are as follows:
- Intermediate level master class for ages 12 and up will be held from 6:00-7:30
- Advanced level master class for ages 14 and up will be held from 7:30-9:00.
Ms. Stone received a B.F.A in Performance and Choreography from Arizona State University. She trained at SUNY Purchase, The Alvin Ailey School and Harvard University with dance greats such as Daniel Nagrin, David Gordon, Viola Farber, Wendy Perron, and Gus Solomons, Jr. Ms. Stone also performed professionally with companies in both Boston and Los Angeles. Upon completing a Master of Arts Degree in Choreography and Choreological Studies from the Laban Centre in London, England, she formed The Stone Dance Collective, a modern dance company which she reestablished in Seattle, Washington in 1995. It was during this time that she began an extensive teaching and lecturing career throughout the Pacific Northwest and beyond. Ms. Stone is currently on faculty at Pacific Northwest Ballet School (Professional Division), Bellevue College and for Spectrum Dance Theater Academy Division.
Ms. Stone has a very diverse and innovative portfolio, having created commissioned works for Spectrum Dance Theater, South Bay Ballet, Santa Cruz Ballet Theatre, Mid-Columbia Ballet, Peninsula Dance Theater, Ballet Folsom, NewDance Company (NY) and part of a collaborative effort with Seattle Dance Project on the critically acclaimed Project Orpheus at ACT Theater. Her work
has premiered in New York, London, Geneva, Montreal and St. Petersburg, Russia. Ms. Stone also had the extraordinary opportunity to assist Donald Byrd for the Seattle Opera production of Aida. Her other projects include choreographing over 25 musical theatre productions. Ms. Stone is the producer/curator of Chop Shop: Bodies of Work, a contemporary dance festival held annually in Bellevue, Washington. This highly anticipated and critically acclaimed event brings the best of local, regional, national and international contemporary dance companies together for a unique series of performances, lectures and master classes and has been awarded multiple grants from the National Endowment for the Arts.
